A commemorative statement recalls the courage and resistance of the Chechen people during the First Chechen War and honours those who died.
Today, August 6, we bow our heads to the courage of the Chechen people, who during the First Chechen War showed unparalleled perseverance, spirit and willingness to fight for their freedom.
This date forever entered history as a symbol of the unyielding will of the people who, despite the enemy's enormous surplus in live force and weapons, managed to achieve military success and forced Russia to sign the Hassapurt agreements, which put an end to active combat operations.
We commemorate with deep respect all the heroes who gave their lives to defend their homeland. Their exploits will be remembered for generations as an example of courage, self-sacrifice and loyalty to their people.
