The Government Thanks Ruslan Gabbasov for Supporting Raushan Gizatullin

The Government of Independent Tatarstan in Exile expresses its sincere gratitude to Ruslan Gabbasov, head of the Committee of the Bashkir National Movement Abroad, for publicly supporting the open letter calling on the authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany to grant political asylum to Raushan Gizatullin.

Ruslan Gabbasov joined the appeal and separately called on the German authorities to grant Raushan Gizatullin political asylum. This solidarity from the allied Bashkir national movement is especially important to us.

Support for people who face political persecution for peaceful civic and national activity has practical, not merely symbolic, significance. Public advocacy, mutual support and international attention help protect those for whom a return to the Russian Federation may carry the risk of prosecution and imprisonment.

We thank Ruslan Gabbasov for his principled position, consistent solidarity and support for Raushan Gizatullin.
